Amsterdam is a city with a certain reputation, and a seemingly irresistible allure for those who want to dip a toe into the waters of the wild side, without giving themselves over entirely to the lifestyles and appetites that Amsterdam caters for.
More innocently-minded tourists will also find Amsterdam an intriguing, charming city, with plenty of history, and a definite sense of being elsewhere that can be refreshing and enjoyable, even if the better-known offerings of the city are not to your taste.
If you’re just enjoying yourself innocently in Amsterdam, here are a few cafes worth visiting:

#5: Excalibur Cafe (www.excaliburcafe.nj)
If you’re metal and you know it, clap your hands… then head to Excalibur Cafe, a place that offers everything Amsterdam stands for in common perception, with a laid back chillness that has to be experienced to be believed.
Definitely adult-focused, and a great place for groups who appreciate metal and rock music and aesthetics to meet and mingle, Excalibur is really far more biker bar than cafe, although it manages a passable daytime imitation of the latter, as long as you fit in with their desired clientele.
If walking into an establishment to hear Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” playing loudly brings a smile to your face, Excalibur is a place you may never want to leave.
- VERY adult-focused!
- Biker/metal orientated
- Relaxed, chilled vibe
